Terms of use
Last updated 11 October 2026
Draft: these terms still have details to fill in (marked in square brackets) and need a lawyer's check before launch.
About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and [full name or company name], of [address], Guernsey (“we”, “us”), for your use of Wayfarer. By creating an account or using Wayfarer you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.
What Wayfarer is
Wayfarer is a trip planning assistant. You tell it about yourself and a trip, and an AI assistant researches and builds a day-by-day plan with estimated costs. You can change the plan, keep notes, photos and ratings of trips you take, and look back on them.
Wayfarer is a planning tool. It does not sell, arrange or book travel, and it is not a travel agent.
The test version
Wayfarer is being tested with a small invited group. During the test it may change, be unavailable or have faults, and we do not promise it will be available at any particular time. Please do not rely on it as the only record of anything important.
We would like your feedback and you are welcome to give it. You agree that we may use your feedback to improve Wayfarer without owing you anything for it.
If we end the test we will tell you at least [14 days] beforehand and give you the chance to download your data (Settings, “Download my data”).
Your account
You must be 18 or over. Give accurate details, keep your password safe, and do not share your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. That permanently deletes your data.
Plans, prices and information are guidance
The assistant uses AI and web search, and it can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. In particular:
- Prices and costs are estimates. Flight and hotel prices marked “live price” or “indicative” are not offers and may change or be unavailable. Check the price with the provider before you book.
- Opening times, closures, events, public holidays, transport links and distances can be wrong or change. Check with the provider or organiser, especially for anything you are paying for or travelling a long way to do.
- The travel information section (health, vaccines, entry rules, safety, money, phrases, emergency numbers) is general guidance from public sources. It is not medical, legal or safety advice. Check official sources (for example GOV.UK and the NHS), and ask your doctor or a travel clinic about vaccines and your own health.
- A plan is a starting point. You are responsible for checking that it suits you, that your passport, visas, insurance, health and fitness are in order, and that what you book is right for you.
We do not book or sell travel
Links in Wayfarer may take you to other companies' websites, such as airlines, hotels and attractions. Any booking is a contract between you and that company, under their terms, and we are not a party to it. We are not responsible for what they offer or how they treat you.
If we ever earn a commission from a link, we will say so clearly.
Health-related information
Giving health-related details is optional. If you do, we use them only as described in the Privacy notice, and you can withdraw them at any time. They help tailor suggestions but do not make Wayfarer a medical service, and the assistant's suggestions are not a substitute for professional advice.
Your content
Your profile, trips, conversations, diary entries, ratings and photos are yours. You give us permission to store and process them, including sending the relevant parts to the AI provider as described in the Privacy notice, solely so that we can provide Wayfarer to you.
You are responsible for what you add. Do not add anything unlawful, or other people's private information or pictures that you do not have the right to share. Your journal and photos are private to you.
You may use the plans Wayfarer creates for you freely for your own trips. They may be similar to plans created for other people, because they draw on the same public information.
Fair use
Please use Wayfarer reasonably. We limit how many requests to the assistant each person can make in a day, to keep the service affordable and fair; the limit resets at midnight UTC. You must not:
- use it for anything unlawful, or to harm or harass anyone;
- try to break, overload or get round it, including its fair-use limits, or use automated tools to make requests;
- try to make the assistant produce harmful or unlawful content;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer it, or use it to build a competing service;
- use another person's account.
Other people's services and content
Wayfarer shows maps, pictures and details from other services, for example OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia and Wikimedia, and Google. These belong to their owners and may be under their own licences and terms, and are credited where they appear.
Our content and software
Wayfarer, its design, text and code belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights in them beyond using the service as intended.
Our responsibility to you
We will take reasonable care in running Wayfarer. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are not affected.
Subject to that, and as far as the law allows: Wayfarer is provided “as is” during the test; we are not responsible for losses that come from relying on a plan, price, time or piece of information (including missed or wrong bookings, costs of a trip, or travel problems), or for loss of data you have not downloaded; and our total responsibility to you for anything connected with Wayfarer is limited to [£100]. [A lawyer must confirm this wording and the limit.]
Ending your use
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or close an account if you break these terms or misuse the service, and we will tell you why where we can. When the test ends we will follow the notice described above.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when the service changes. We will update this page and its date, and tell you in the app or by email if the change matters. If you carry on using Wayfarer after a change you agree to the new terms.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of Guernsey, and the courts of Guernsey can settle any dispute [lawyer to confirm; consumers in the UK or EU keep any rights they have under the law where they live].
Questions about these terms: [contact email].
